Award for Old Faithful Photo

Edit Template

Well, the good news just keeps pouring in.  For the first time ever, I received 2 award notification emails in 1 day.  I shared the first 1 last week.  This week, I want to share the second award-winning photo with you.  Again, we’re keeping with the national park landmarks but this time, we’re looking at a landscape photo of the famous geyser named Old Faithful.  Keep reading here to learn more about the photo and its new award.

Let’s start things off with the announcement email.  It was short and sweet.  It contained the following.

Congratulations : )

Awesome cramerimaging, you won People’s Choice in Show me your best photograph of Geysers Photo Challenge!

Thank you for sharing your creativity and collaborating by submitting your favorite photos in this challenge.

Sadly, again, once I clicked on the link, I found no landing page describing anything to me.  I would show you that text if it existed.  So, instead, I’ll show you a screenshot from the contest page announcing the winners.

The number of entries, namely 33, seems a bit low.  Still, I won’t complain.  It’s another landscape photography award.  ‘People’s Choice’ is a great laurel to hang my hat on.

For those who didn’t fill in the blank, the contest above was for best photos of geysers.  There’s an obvious character count which that title exceeded.

There’s few places in the world with naturally-occurring geysers.  I previously lived about 3 hours away from one such place: Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone features many different geysers.  These geysers vary on eruption and height drastically.  However, the most famous of all the geysers in Yellowstone is none other than the Old Faithful geyser.  Previously, it was so reliable and faithful that the park rangers could tell you when it would erupt down to the minute.

Thanks to some geological activity (earthquakes) in the region in the early 2000’s, Old Faithful is no longer so reliable or predictable.  It still erupts much on the same schedule but there’s a 30-45 minute window now in which it will erupt.

So, what do you think of this landscape photo and its new award?  Do you like it?  Do you hate it?  Does it deserve to take the People’s Choice award in this mini contest/challenge?  Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
