“Snow flakes are falling all around me…” Recently, Southeastern Idaho experienced a small snow storm which transformed this dull gray and brown landscape into a winter wonderland for a few hours. This was a perfect opportunity for the camera so here is some of what the snow dressed up.
We had some early morning business that day so we were up with the sun. We walked outside to the car to find it covered with a layer of fresh snow powder. The trees were also covered with snow. This was too good for me. I ran back inside and grabbed my camera bag and headed back out.
I had missed the last time the snow decorated the trees in this manner. However, I had an appointment to keep and, by the time I was done, the snow had already melted off. I felt really disappointed and promised myself that the next time this happened that I would be ready for it.
So, I took some time to walk around in the snow and take pictures of how beautiful the landscape was. From the amount of slush, I could tell that this snow was not going to stay frozen for long so I hurried and took advantage of the pristine whiteness while I could.
Cars passing by on the road made some of my photographs an interesting game of timing to take. Fortunately, this was not an overly busy section of town where I decided to take pictures. The timing game was not as bad as it could have been elsewhere.
After spending several minutes outside, my hands and fingers where complaining about the temperature. The snow was getting a bit thin and I had other matters of business to take care of. I concluded not a minute too soon. An hour later and no trace remained of the beautiful winter wonderland I just spent all that time photographing.
