Lesson Learned

Edit Template

Last week, I told the story about learning a lesson first-hand about being prepared.  I wasn’t prepared and it almost cost me getting a couple of beautiful landscape photos.  Thankfully, I was baled out.  This time, I was ready and it paid off in dividends I didn’t expect.  It was all thanks to last week’s lesson learned.

This time, when I found I had business outside of town, I made room in the car for my camera gear.  It was a tight fit, but it worked out.

When I came up to the Best Western Grand Hotel in Bryce City, I had no idea what was going to appear right in front of my face after business was over.  I was in for a surprise as was every customer standing outside the hotel.

Up pulled a covered wagon pulled by horses.  It’s clearly a wagon designed for tourist rides.  Still, it’s something you don’t see everyday.  As soon as it pulled into view, the tourists pulled out their cell phone cameras and started taking pictures.  I had similar feelings but I wanted better photos than cell phone snapshots.  So, I went for my camera.

I took pictures from several angles, trying to make sure I didn’t have unwanted people in frame.  The tourists thankfully didn’t move around too much and allowed me to shoot several photos in relative peace.  This shot ended up working out from the batch.

It’s a bit off my usual photography endeavors, but it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up when I had my camera with me and in easy reach. However, lesson learned.

What do you think of this kind of photo?  Should I try for more if given the opportunity?  Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
