Seasonal monsoons proceed daily. Thanks to this, I encounter many more rainbows than usual. All I need do is make sure I carry my camera with me and I’ll have beautiful new landscape photography opportunities. I made a point of carrying my camera lately. Check out the new monsoon rainbows I captured.
We had business out of town. The night before, my spouse mentioned bringing my camera with us. Since he never says things like that, I took note. I made a point of bringing my camera along the next day. I almost forgot it but circled back and packed it in the car.
We took care of our business and spent several hours out traveling. I worked around my camera being packed and my camera did create some annoyance. I had to move it several times to complete my job. Still, I didn’t complain about its presence. If there was a reason for carting it along, I felt sure the reason would reveal itself at some point. So, I soldiered on and worked around it in spite of some minor inconvenience it caused me.
I started doubting whether or not there was a reason as time passed. I wasn’t completely out of hope but really starting to wonder as we were pulling around the highway bend back into town. Then I saw it. There was an arc of a double rainbow outside my window. Now I knew why I was hauling my camera gear around. It was for this opportunity. I wasn’t about to miss out on the monsoon rainbows in front of me.
The monsoons have brought out several rainbows lately. Thanks to the monsoon that day, I had 2 rainbows to photograph. I also had a pastoral scene of cows and horses grazing for the foreground. I couldn’t ask for more.
We pulled over and I got to work. I took several photos of the double rainbow. Then I thought I was done. I wasn’t. As we pulled down the road a bit further, the second rainbow faded but the first brightened and saturated. I wanted a second attempt so I got my second attempt. I even added the dramatic clouds to the composition for a different take.
Sadly, the double rainbow photos didn’t work out. Such is life. However, the single rainbow photos from the second stop worked out beautifully. I’ll keep my eyes open for more monsoon rainbows this season. They make beautiful landscape photos.
