I do enjoy coming back from a photo shoot with something different. Yes, I know. I’ve done lake photos before. However, I really haven’t approached lakes much during blue hour or even twilight. So, yes. I did do something a bit different. Today, I share my latest landscape photo featuring a lake at twilight.
Ever since my first visit to the Tropic Reservoir, I knew I had a shot from this angle. I simply needed to be there at the right time. Then I’d capture the landscape photo I knew was waiting. What I didn’t count on was the time of day. Since I don’t often shoot during twilight, I didn’t believe I had a shot. Still, I gave it a try.
I arrived too late for golden hour. However, golden hour wouldn’t offer much. The skies were empty. It’s only when blue hour settled in that I found a rather calm lake settling into twilight. I brought my camera all the way out so I was going to try no matter what. Thanks to a tripod, remote shutter release, and a good camera sensor, I captured the placid lake at twilight.
Thankfully, nature did most of the work for me. I didn’t need to process the photo very much. I merely manipulated some of the colors to better reflect the colors of twilight.
Not every photo I take comes with a lengthy story or even points of note. Many photos won’t require extra-ordinary levels of processing either. This photo ended up with a simple story of traveling out to the site and clicking the shutter. But I do love landscape photo shoots which work out that way.
