A piece of good news landed in my inbox lately.  I felt that I should share it with all of you landscape photography fans.  Another landscape photo of mine received an award.  The photo is titled “Winter Solace.”  Keep reading to learn more about what award “Winter Solace” received and why.  It’s a surprising (or not so surprising) twist as to what and why.

Firstly, let’s keep with tradition and give you all the details.  Here’s what the announcement email contained.

Hello cramerimaging,

Your photo truly shines as one of your top shots.  It’s caught our eye with all the attention it’s getting.  We’ve chosen it to receive a new Award!

Take a look and discover more about this honor.👇

So, ok.  They mention a new award.  Does that mean a new award for the photo?  A new award for me?  A new award they’re just starting to issue?  It’s a bit too vague there.  But a new award is still a new award.  My curiosity was raised.  Of course, I clicked on the included link to learn more about this new award which “Winter Solace” received.

The following language greeted me on the award announcement page.

Congratulations cramerimaging, your photo has won the EcoVision Award!  This award recognizes how your creativity helps raise awareness about the importance of living harmoniously with nature.  Whether your photos are nature-themed or not each one showcases the creativity at the heart of our community.  We are truly grateful to see your photos shared here.

I don’t know about whether or not it shows anything regarding living in harmony with nature.  One might suppose so as it is a winter photo of Bryce Canyon National Park.  It is definitely a “nature-themed” photo.

If you read the text of the award title and description closely and consider the date I received it, you might come to the same conclusion I did about this award.  I received the notification around Earth Day.

This award is probably more a promotion surrounding Earth Day rather than any special recognition.  It’s not the first time I received such attention.  Still, it was very much a welcome announcement.

So, now I turn things over to you, reader.  What do you think of this landscape photo “Winter Solace” and its new award?  Do you like it?  Do you hate it?  Does it deserve the award it received?  Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
