Autumn Leaves

It’s that time of year again.  Time for the narrow window of autumn leaves and fall colors.  This means that it’s also time I dragged myself back out with my camera for some autumn leaf photos.  So, here’s my latest adventure out capturing photos of autumn leaves and what I came back home with.  Hope you enjoy.

With the early onset of color, I decided I wanted to ascend to higher elevations.  There I might better locate the autumn leaves I sought.  So, I took the trek up to Cedar Breaks with plans to stop along the way.  I knew I would find color if I chose my spot well.  So I kept my eyes open along the road.  I found what I was looking for.  I found fall leaves in full autumn color.

Having located a grove of trees I wanted to attempt, we stopped on the side of the road.  Perhaps I could have chosen my spot better.  I ended up climbing a rather steep slope with my camera gear and no walking stick to help.  I found it a bit precarious at times.  Still, I made it far enough up the slope to take pictures.  Then I needed to use my hands to get back down to the road.  The slope was that steep.

Having exhausted my photos up the slope, I began searching for other photo opportunities.  After all, I was surrounded on both sides of the road with autumn leaves.  I did find other photos worth taking.  I especially liked the layers of trees I found.  They worked really well for me.  So I photographed them amid darkening skies.

The next trick was making the photo work in Lightroom.  I didn’t get it right on the first try.  I needed to sleep on it for a few days and revisit it before I approved of the results.  Now I’ve added some more fall color to my landscape photography portfolio.  I hope you like this photo too.  I’d love to know what you think.  Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
