The Pinnacle of the Hoodoos

Sometimes I plan for the photo I want to get.  Oftentimes I don’t end up getting it exactly the way I want but I get something better instead, be it the planned shot or another shot altogether.  Other times, I get lucky.  I’m fooling around, if you will (can a professional actually fool around in their field?), and capture something good, great, or even amazing.  Such was my luck when I captured this pinnacle of the hoodoos.

I wanted an entirely different photo that day.  I sought a photo of the warning signs posted around Bryce Canyon.  They were perfect as a blog post illustration.  So, I made the trek out to Fairyland assuming I would find one there.  I was in luck.  I found one of the signs I needed and took the photo I needed.

Blue hour was in full force so I knew I didn’t have much light.  However, I decided to wander over the the canyon rim.  Just in case there was something worth shooting, I wanted a look.  On a whim, I took 3 photos.  I wasn’t sure they would be worth anything, however, nothing ventured nothing gained.  So, I gave them a try.

I was very happy I captured the photo I wanted.  Then I turned my attention to the landscape photos I attempted.  I captured a pinnacle of the hoodoos which greatly resembled Thor’s Hammer.  It’s not that famous hoodoo.  However, it looks like that hoodoo’s little brother.  So, that’s the story behind my new photo featuring a pinnacle of the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park.
