Sunflower fields have been a staple of landscape photography for a while.  I wanted a chance to create my own take.  So, I kept my eyes peeled and my ear to the ground.  Recently, I found such and opportunity.  So, I made time for the photo shoot.  Here’s what I came back with: sunflowers in the morning.

I wanted to spend time with one of my friends also into photography so I tried a couple different photo shoot options.  Thanks to the smoke conditions and work schedules, my initial thoughts didn’t work out.  So sad.  However, I noticed a social media post talking about a sunflower field in the area.  I added that photo opportunity to the list.  With other options collapsing, I brought this location to the top of my list.  We gave it a try.

Sunflower fields are often depicted in the evening.  With this angle, the dramatic sunset frames the sky behind the eastern orientated sunflowers.  However, once again thanks to schedules, evening golden hour was out of the question.  We settled on a morning golden hour shoot instead.

We arrived at the sunflower field early so we could catch the rising sun.  Then, we got to work as soon as the light was bright enough as we arrived too early to shoot for a few minutes.  It felt good to get out and try something new as I’ve spent lots of time in Bryce Canyon lately.  I wanted to capture something different and expand my portfolio in a different direction.  I got my chance.

This gorgeous field of gold and green made for some beautiful landscape photos.  I took my path and my friend took her path.  Sometimes we overlapped and tried out the same subject matter, such as trying macro with a ladybug.  But we also took our own artistic paths as well.

Overall, we both enjoyed our time together and the sunflower photos we took.  We were glad for our sunflowers in the morning adventure.  What do you think of my morning sunflower field photo?  Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
