An Award for Rustic

Once again, readers, there’s good news.  If you’re a long-time follower, then you probably already guessed what I’m talking about.  If not, then I’ll explain.  Another landscape photo of mine received an award.  I do so love these moments.  So, I share them with you.  Now, let’s look deeper at this award and the photo titled “Rustic” which received this honor.

Here’s the traditional part where I list out the particulars.  Viewbug sent out the announcement email and it contained the following language.

Hello cramerimaging,

It’s no surprise that your photo “Rustic” is one of your best images.  But, it’s getting enough love that we took notice.  We’ve chosen it to receive the Ignition Award!

This was a pleasant surprise, though I’m not sure what they mean by “it’s getting enough love that we took notice.”  After all, at time of writing, it received a whole 19 views and 1 like.  Still, “Rustic” received an award.  I clicked on the included link to learn more about this award.  I found the following text to explain things.

Congratulations cramerimaging!  Your photo just grabbed the Ignition Award.  It really highlights how much you’ve grown and how creative you are in photography.  Just by sharing this one picture, you’ve pumped up our team and pushed us to make our product even better.  You’ve got a real gift for catching those special moments, and it lights a spark in us every time.  Your work’s got that magic touch, and it shows in every shot.

The language here isn’t particularly specific.  So, “Rustic” received the “Ignition Award” but there’s not much of a description as to what the award is or why my photo received it.  I’ve been noticing that Viewbug has lately been giving badges and awards which don’t quite make sense to me.  They seem more like promotions of their own product rather than celebrating my own individual achievements.  This award feels in much the same vein.

Still, I won’t complain.  One of my landscape photos received an award.  Rustic is a good choice for receiving awards.  The second half of the description sounds more pointed at me and my work than their company product.  I’ll take it for sure.  After all, who’s going to argue with lines like “got a real gift,” “catching special moments,” and “you’re work’s got that magic touch.”

Now I turn things over to you, reader.  What do you think of “Rustic” and its new award?  Do you like it?  Do you hate it?  Does it deserve the award it received?  Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

This photo definitely has that iconic old-west feel. Definitely “Rustic”.
