Hello landscape photography fans.  It’s time once again for another behind-the-scenes peek at my photography.  Today, I’m featuring the BTS video of a very famous landscape photography location: the Moulton Barn in Grand Teton National Park.  This barn is so famous that it’s become one of the essential photos from Grand Teton National Park.  Every landscape photographer wants one.  Well, here’s the story behind my first attempt.

When I took a trip to the area, I wanted to shoot my own take on this famous Moulton Barn.  I recently (at the time) learned its name, so I wanted to take the shot.  We made the trip over the Teton range in early May.  I was hoping for some beautiful spring flowers and green leaves.  What I met with was extended winter.  Things still looked as dead and dormant as they do in January.

Naturally, this was disappointing.  I wanted a very different scene.  However, I came during the wrong time of year for that scene.  I needed to wait a few more weeks.  Still, not wanting to waste the trip, I did my best to make it worth while.  This incredibly famous barn in Wyoming was an option for me to try, so I did.

As you can see, the grass is still dormant.  There’s a bit of snow on the ground.  There’s really nothing to work with as far as foreground.  The wind was cold and unpleasant.  Over all, it was rather miserable.  For sure, these were far less-than-ideal conditions.  As such, the shoot really didn’t go as planned.  Still, I walked away with this landscape photo to show for it.

It’s not bad for a first attempt, I think.  Still, there’s room for improvement, namely returning during a better time of year.  So, now I turn things over to you.  What do you think of this photo titled “Moulton Barn and Tetons” now that you can see the bts video?  Does it add something to the picture for you?  Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
